SigmaTel C-Major Audio Troubles...

EDIT: Nevermind, got it working

Earlier today, I installed Cakewalk Home Studio 2 on my Inspiron 600m with a Sigmatel C-Major Audio Card/Driver.

Unfortunatly, I'm getting errors upon startup, and the inability to hear MIDI sounds within the program. All the details I can give you are in these screenshots. I have no compatible MIDI Out... Is there anything I can do besides use another computer/sound card?

I get this first screen before Home Studio 2 even finishes opening

I get this one right after HS2 opens

And this one after clicking "Choose MIDI Outputs Now..."; Microsoft MIDI Mapper Doesn't Work.

First I can tell you that sigma-tel driver dell provides hides some features and you have to play with the registry to enable them.

You can try installing the barebones driver windows provides by doing the following:

Go to the device manager, extend "sound, video, and game contrllers", right-click on SigmaTel C-Major Audio, click Update Driver, "Install from a list...", "Don't search..", "uncheck compatible hardware", in the first column click Intel and in the second choose "Intel AC'97 Audio Controller".

Once installed, open the Master volulme control and you'll see more columns. Some are meaningless however.

You can Rollback the driver if you don't want it.

The AC '97 driver is compatible with the sound card. Yet my problems with Home Studio remain the same.

I'm sorry to hear about your audio plight.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the Sigmatel and then reinstalling Cakewalk? I am still waiting for my 9300 with which I plan to use Cubase SX3 w/ reason 3.0 rewired in. I believe the i9300 uses the same stock audiocard (the sig) and I hope it works out of the box w/ my programs. But there is something to be said about simply popping in a firewire audio interface.

It sucks but it's what might have to happen. Might I suggest a Presonus Firebox or an M-Audio Audiophile FW? Put some thought in. I dont play on sitting on my midi controllers for too long

Good luck.
