Hey, I did take the brightness down to 60%, I took off the ambient light assist. I will do another battery test again to be even more constructive. But I might be reading something wrong. As for the 3d mark scores put it on super performance, get better 3dmark scores. So coolbits is not good? Seems to be okay for me but I'll try the riva tuner |

mistake?
Will the graphics card be able to be replaced?
Will differences between x700 and 6600 be noticeable in game? Also, was this a mistake to get z71v, should I change my order and get Acer 8104 (Is it even worth the extra $450 for the acer)? Last edited by cward0625; 04-05-2005 at 11:58 AM. Reason: another question |

Are these few number differences gonna make THAT much of a huge performance difference. I am just learning about notebooks and it seems all these benchmark tests are sort off like dynos(horsepower/torque in a car) and there are many different types of dynos and you could have EXACTLY the same setup but come up with different numbers. Overclocking the GPU on the 6600 seems like it bumped it up pretty good (275/563) and as long as its safe I may consider it after I get mine and am not happy with the performance. Just my two cents. ![]() |

Well, my 2 cents...
I have an AMD-XP 3000+ on one of my desktop. Due to old memory using PC2700, I am limited to 333Mhz bus (aka 166 external bus speed). I over clocked between 166 to approx 175 bus speed. On Sandrasoft, I see a good 5% - 10% improvement in speed with my O/C. In usage, no differences whatsoever. Even playing EQ2, video encoding, MP3 extract, etc. Little to no differences noticable.

I love my laptop, its very quiet and bloody cool. Never gets too hot as the issues with the Acer 8100's touch pads getting warm.

Bragging rights, huh? In that case, I won't worry about needing to overclock the GPU or anything else, or paint it or do any hardware tweaking. If it can run Doom 3 on high detail and still get about 40 fps, I'm happy. It's the battery life that's my main concern, but that seems to be cool. Hell, I don't even play games much; just wanted the 6600 in case of college LAN parties.
So Smilepak, when are you gonna do a review of yours, if only for a direct comparison? |

I won't receive my laptop until tomorrow night. It will take me a couple of days to setup Windows and other stuff on it. I might have it sometime this weekend if I have time.
Found this on the nVidia forum...not sure if it really makes any differences.. Quote:

Ah, well, then I'll just have to wait a while. As for that blurb from Nvidia, I'm not that surprised. After all, isn't the CPU itself supposed to slow down when on battery? After the screen, I would think that the graphics card would be the biggest power drain on a laptop.
