You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

I plan on ordering one of these babies this week and I was wondering if you genuses could help me out. I am new to the whole laptop dealie and I am not quite sure on what drivers are going to need to be installed and updated from the default ones. If you could list the ones preferred and give a link that would be awesome! Thanks guys!

the only driver I've updated so far is for the video card. I got it at http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/. You can find detailed instructions on how to upgrade your video drivers in Smilepak's review. Please note that this does not need to be done. Your stock video drivers work great. It's optional, and will slightly increase benchmark scores.

review updated with new comments over a week after purchase on build, screen, and overall, as well as additional sections on Audio DJ, the DVD+/-RW drive, system quirks, and reseller experience. I'm trying to make this the most comprehensive review possible! I hope you find it helpful. -Djembe Rob

there's a little bit on the far right (1/4 of an inch or so) that I didn't notice until I looked for it.

Since I just got mine five minutes ago, Holy SHit but is this thing quiet?!? I can barely hear it except now because it's formatting my HD in preparation to install Windows 2000! It's thinner and lighter than I thought it'd be, too! Hot damn!

Yes and not even a single b0rked pixel to boot

One question, though: I bought mine from ISTNC, and they shipped me a little piece of innards in a small plastic baggie; what is that thing, and how do I install it if it's important?

I'd go for the Asus, personally: It's thin, damn near silent except for booting windows. Also, it's cheaper and thinner.

I'm just worried about the quality of the screen for graphics work. Are the sparkly issues not as bad as the 9300 sparkly problems?
