Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). I'm sending my notebook back to IST for repairs or replacement. The CPU is at high usage percentages when doing normal work, and in games (or anything that uses the GPU), the CPU usage jumps to 100%. IST is going to check it out, and then make a decision on whats going to happen.

Whitewind: Price was USD.

Any possible way I could get a TV-tuner with the Z71V? If I have to buy it seperatly could someone post a link of the PCI card and the actual tuner please? Thanks!

Another draw back also is that internal bluetooth is not avalible. However, you can get a USB adapter im sure, but the less on the outside the better.

This has nothing to do with your post... I just want to say I love your avatar

I went with a 3Com PCMCIA BlueTooth card. It works perfectly with the antenna in, and it lines up flush with the notebook so nothing is sticking out.

AverMedia makes the only PCMCIA tv tuner that I know of, and it's not available in the US, as far as I know. You can find several USB tv tuners, though. Check out http://www.tigerdirect.com

Thanks! I have another quick question. It looks like it doesn't have an LTP port for some of those old printers. Now I don't know much about newer printers and how many actually come with male USB connectors but has this been a pain to anyone who owns a Z71V?

I'm pretty sure no printer comes with a male USB port. Mine's a little on the old side, and it has a paralell and a female USB port. Nearly every new printer has only the USB port, though. Paralell is soooo mid-1990's

I set up a wireless network and use a printer attached to a different computer.

You can get a USB to pralle adapter or you can network your printer...I don't think those ports are a big drawback nowadays.

UPDATE

IST just got back to me after looking at the notebook. The GPU is fried due to my overclocking. So I sugget you all to not overclock, and if you must, do not push it. The cooling in this notebook for the GPU can generally not handle the overclocking.

I have a cat, and I've never really though about it, but the hair actually gets into the mobo, the fans and everything. My cat is not going anywhere near my notebook again!

I startet to have issues when the GPU was overclocked (occasional stutters in video playback), so I took it down to regular, and haven't had any problems since. How much will it cost you for a new GPU? (considering overclocking isn't covered in Asus' warrantee)
