Wanted: Semi-Cheap Laptop

Looking for a Centrino based laptop from a reliable brand with a nice screen capable of playing DVDs. 512 of RAM and 40gb HD OR MORE Windows XP required. Everything else is optional. Looking for nice and cheap, PM or post your options on the board so people can see their competition (if that is within the rules). Thanks.

The ECS A535 fits your description (others are going to flame me for suggesting this ). It's actually resold as a WalMart version for well under $1000.

For your needs, you might even consider buying something used. I'd suggest looking on eBay.

Bump and:

I've had an ECS laptop before, they aren't that bad. Why would people flame you for it? The current forerunner is an Acer on newegg.com with a sempron 3000+, but I dont know much about Sempron. I do like AMD MUCH MUCH more than Intel. I've checked on ebay and I have bought used laptops before as well, not going to do that again. Battery life is kind of important and expensive to replace. Anyway, if no one has anything that can beat the Acer in price or in components that is relatively new, I'll just newegg it.

I'm selling my CL56 in a thread: it meets all your criteria: Centrino, 512 Ram, 40 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive, plus the Mobile Radeon 9700 for games. Take a look at my thread to see if you might like it.
