If the XPS Gen 2 is for gaming...It might go out of date WAY before we expect it too

Hey guys, I was just thinking, and i like to think lol, but when the new Next Gen counsils come out (XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Rev) wont that just completely out date the current geforce go6800?? I know the laptop is portable and the counsils arent, but you know if i fork over 3000 dollars for a high end laptop, and it gets outdated by a 450 dollar XBOX 360...well, Ill let you make the descision....

I really hope these cards fuel games faster than anyother thing...lol

Whats your say????

I say that when the new next-gen consoles come out, I won't be able to play World of Warcraft or Guild Wars on any of them. That's why I bought a 9300.

I'm just praying that it'll still be good for UT2007 and Oblivion. If those run fine, I should be ok for at least 3 years, and after that'll be dissertation time, when I'll need to concentrate on other stuff too much to really get caught up in games too much.

I would not worry about it, its the natural course of technology. Just enjoy the laptop you buy. If you constantly worry about the future when buying things then guess what you will end up never buying anything. Shit becomes outdated reall fast, not much you can really do about it.

Heck it seems everything almost gets outdated very soon anyway, Look at the folks who bought the 9100 for 2k+ with the MR 9700 just a year ago and well it is nearly out dated.

I paid less than half 3k for my lappy w/ a 6800Go. And a lappy can do a lot more than just play games.

Consoles can't replace computers, you are comparing apples to oranges here.

Agree,
I think a lot of people are forgeting that the main point of laptop came to existance was to have a portable computer and replace those bulky desktops. Gaming is just a "part time job" for laptops. The same case as games in your cell phones, they are just additional features to attract more costumers into buying the device. More and more laptops are designed to handle extensive game requirements so you can play more games in middle of California deserts or on top of Mount Helen when there was no electricity hook-ups for your PS3 or XBox 360. There are a whole lot of other things you can do on a laptop other than playing games.

Could not agree more.

Hence my argument that Clevo based systems, with battery life under a hour, test the definition of a real notebook.

lol - you can have the best of both worlds for less than 2k anyway

get a i9300 with the 6800 go for like $1200-$1300 and the ps3 for like ~$300 and boom - you can play everything (ps3/comp) and do anything (comp)

and you dont need a tv - just get like a $70 tv card, plug in your ps3 to the lappy and there you have it - portable gaming^2

EDIT

oh but you need the wall...

i was just thinking of college so i wouldnt need a friggin tv

If I want a XBOX 360 or a PS3, I will just buy one. But I hardly play my XBOX now, so I probably wont.

Lol, once I got the XPS2 I haven't barely touched the XBOX except to dust it off. Besides the capabilities of the new consoles, they will not be able to play certain games such as MMORPG's as well.

Consoles don't have these nice LED lights nor programs written by talented people (like Tride and Qualar) to showcase those lights. And worst of all, you can't mod a console game. I'm personally far from concerned about the new consoles at this point. There's a price and technology war over in their market, not our PC one, so I don't think this is going to be anything out of the ordinary.
