nc6000 - 14,1" to small
nc8000 - to expensive

My 2 cents

Looked at the specs - ~ $2900 for the equivalent 5680 I just bought. With a lower res screen and slower RAM. Sorry but extra battery life if just not worth $1000 to me. I do like the fact they have an airline adapter and car adapter though.

Pictures of the nc6000

Here are some pictures of the nc6000 both by itself and next to an IBM ThinkPad T40, thanks to manko on the AnandTech forum.

I looked at the pictures and actually found it pretty attractive. I like the dual pointing feature also since my last laptop was a ThinkPad and I prefer the stick over the touchpad. But a 14.1" XGA screen is just too small of a resolution. Going by what other brands have as a res for 14.1" XGA, it will be 1024x768...why not SXGA HP?!

Generally XGA (1024x768) is the most popular resolution in the WORLD but i think there should be an option for higher res but maybe they do and ther eholding back ?

nc6000 description changed by HP

It looks like HP edited their catalog web pages overnight. Information about the nc6000 now references the ATI 9600 and not the 9600 Pro. I guess that they corrected a mistake in the original description of the nc6000.

Let me tell you, this 7 pound Dell D800 I have doesn't seem that heavy, so 5 lbs. would be oh so nice.
