You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

I would call a few more times....Don't stop with 1 rep. It is SOP for just about any company to say it must be your fault. They use it to weed out ppl that just want an easy replacement for something they did. The techs probably just opened the lid and said, yep it's cracked, send it back!

I friend of mine had a similar problem to yours, it took him a week to get them to authorize a replacement. Turns out the hinges on his laptop were to stiff & it was causing stress on the screen.

Please don't give up with just one call....Escalate...escalate...escalate! Let them know that you did not purchase a $3,000 machine just to have problems with it only a month after your purchase.

Good luck, I hope you can get this resolved!

Sam I have been with ibm for a very long time and never had to deal withthat crap. Just keep on calling. Believe me that they will fix it at their expense. you just happend to get one of their bad apples on the phone. I have dealt with enough people there to know that there are some really cool techies. I remember one time when i wanted my keyboard replaced because i wanted the thai keybaord and not the chinese. I called several times finally i got one cool guy who knew what i was talking about and he said that since there was nothing wrong with the keyboard that was currently on the laptop that i had to make it wrong so he told me to pop out a couple keys. I did and he issues me a new thai keyboard. So just hang in there. and it will work out.

I'd like to share my story.

I do not have a T43p, instead I got a T42p branded on the outside, but really is a T41p (Motherboard is a 2373-GEG).

It costed me $980 USD: I got it NEW from a woman who bought 3 T42p at a very low price (imagine how low so that I could get it for 980USD)

I come from a thinkpad T30, and I'll be selling that thing for approx 760USD, I really saved a lot of money:

Thinkpad 'T42p', really a T41p:
- 14.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050 pixels)
- 1GB DDR PC2700 (2x512MB) RAM
- Intel Pentium M 745 @ 1.80GHz "Dothan"
128MB ATi FireGL T2
40GB HDD @ 5400rpm
Windows XP SP2 Preloaded by IBM in Spanish (laptop is made in Mexico, but with US localization keyboard)
I even got the ISO files of all the Recovery Disks.
Intel 2100 Wireless Card
NO BLUETOOTH

It's impressive this machine:

I've invested more $$ on adding:
- Hitachi 60GB HDD @ 7200rpm
- Ultrabay Slim for 2nd HDD
- Ordered a mint condition Thai keyboard (which is the best keyboard ever made for the T4x series)
- Will be applying Zalman Super Grease to enhance the dissipation of CPU & GPU heat

I guess the T43p should be enormously fast compared to the T41, T42's
since the FSB is 533MHz as opossed to run @ 400MHz in the early T41, T42 series.

Simply the Thinkpads are the best laptops.
I've owned 2 Thinkpads before this (and both are functional still, A22e & T30)
