Promethe is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
But did SD slot in Mx438G support SDIO cards?
And I sometimes use SD to download photos from my camera
But I mostly use Vantec stand-cooler (it has got integrated X-in-1 card reader)

Of course, there could be just some stupid reason for my problem.. but maybe not.
hi,
my 3438G seems to get a little hot but I haven't had the problem with the shutdown yet.
I recommend the underclocking forum. I've read it once and it doesn't seem to do any harm for the processor.
The heating problem i think it's mainly from the GPU...mine stays in 65-70 degrees Celsius. Could also be the hard drive but I doubt it.

Could you please post what version you have of Powercinema Linux and a photo of the program when using harddrive to play movies? I can only see strange maps like "all users" and "favourites" and such. And wherever I put my movies or mp3 or whatever, they cant be found in Powercinema Linux.
Also, despite what Cyberlink says, you can play divx movies when correct codec is installed. But for me, only from DVD/CD.
hi
My PowerCinema version is : ver 4.00.0414M
and here are 2 photos with it showing from harddrive...in attachment, dunno another way

My fujitsu lies on the table and the airflow does happen... but the temps on the comp are pretty silly though... for example I alt-tabbed out from a game and took a look at the temperatures for the GPU, the core was at 75 celsius and after a MINUTE or so it was down to 70 already...

If this comp would have a P4 processor it would burn a nice hole through the wooden table I have it on

Yes, I am completely sure the main reason for the heatage is the GPU with the DDR1 memory, but the cooling solution on the 3438G really isn't very good, sadly

Sorry for the double post (this was it). My internet connection just sucks...

And regarding my problem, if anyone was wondering, I haven't OC'd anything on my lappy (lappy... hell yeah, like I would be brave enough to use it on my lap).

amilo 1425 user, want to buy 3438

Hello!

I own a Amilo 1425, I get an score of 1400 in 3dmark05, 3600 in 3dmark03. I have heard scores up to 3600 in 3dmark05 with the m3438. That sounds great, but I have heard that nvidiA/FUJITSU-SIEMENS will come ot with ddr3 memory soon (on the graphics card).

The cooling on my Amilo 1425 isnt very good either, when i played BF2 on the lowest settings it crashed to desktop. How good is the screen, is as good as vaio?

I want to upgrade to m3438 but I'am not sure it's worth it. The screen I have is very good but it suffers from being to white sometimes and my major concern is that ATI 9700 lacks DVI (digital vibrance), a feuture nvidia supports. This results in a kind of poor color experience, at least if you are used to nvidia GPU's. The 3438 have a 6800 ultra Nvidia, does this machine have DVI or not?

DVI is not digital vibrance, it's an interface for connecting a computer to a monitor. And yes, the 3438 has a brilliant screen. I haven't compared a Vaio to the 3438 though... but I do know that both FS and Sony are well-known for their high quality screens.

hi snowman, sorry for the incorrect spelling, hmm it sould be DVC (Digital vibrance control).

To make things clear i did not ask to be spell checked. Answer my questions insteed.

I know FJ and Sony make good screens, I have one myself. what i mentioned was some minor problems with bad colors and a white screen.

Yes...that could be it.
But I would try also to underclock (or undervolt) the CPU. Maybe there is some heating over there too.
About the 75...I haven't had over 70 degrees yet. And I can keep the lappy on my lap It's not that hot.
Maybe you should speak with your provider or smth...dunno.

@freeze19
About the versions from F-S with GDDR3 on their 6800-s it's waiting for nothing...it only has higher points in 3dmark but no new technologies and when the DDR1 version won't be enough I assure you that neither the GDDR3 version will... And that will happen at least 1 and a half year from now...

Gents,

just a quick question. the M3438 is a current release laptop from fuji yes? Not a soon to be replced model?
It's just that whilst speaking to a PC World rep on the phone yesterday and he mentioned that it was an end of line model. Is it? or did he just mean that PCWorld won't be selling it anymore?
Any info?

Cheers

They said that to me too, but when they say 'end-of-line', it means they will be replacing the model in PC world. So these are the two possibilities, but I don't know which they'll be choosing:
a) A new 3438 is brought in with a faster processor and/or larger hard drive (or two)
b) A completely new model is brought in, not necessarily FS. It's also unlikely it'll be the 4438.
