Notebooks sold in Germany have german keyboard. That means that you will see german letters in keys. But when you set the language to english or finish the keyboad acts like a classic qwerty keyboard and you dont have to worry about what symbol it is printed on each key.I have bought 3 laptops from Germany and always after 1 week of use i had no problem with the keyboard.Anyway, you have also the option to change the keyboard with an small extra cost but in my case i didnt.
Yesteday i bought for a friend the M3438 with PM 770 2GB ram and 320GB HDDS from the above link for just 1800 euros because i dont have to pay the VAT as a company owner. The above laptop isnt available in Greece and the suggested price will be 2700 euros when it will be available. So we paid 900 euros less. With 900 euros we can get not one spare keyboard but 15.As for the software i dont give a shit. There are so many copies around. It's silly to pay for softaware for computers not for company use in my opinion.

Any information when it will be available in Germany? or in Greece? and how much will it cost? You see I am interested in buing one of them. Is it ok buing from Germany. Service etc...? As u have understand i live in Greece... |

probably it was a wrong model they have posted, because from the official site of siemens,it can only support up to 120G sata Harddisk, not 160G,and at the other hand ,with 2,13G cpu 2G memory and 2*160G harddisk,2100 euro would be too cheap,

Right now, I'm still weighing whether M4438 with WUXGA is worth it. When I think logically WXGA+ would probably be better in games and such, but WUXGA does seem cool, and Dell XPS Gen2 has also WUXGA so that tells you something. It's a pity XPS Dell2 is not sold in Finland, although Dell's notebooks' displays are not the best... |

Well, just in case anyone is interested , I have the M3438G here next to me now. I'm still trying to decide whether it's good or not...
The WXGA+ is better than the WUXGA according to the Fujitsu docs (wider vieving angles, better brightness, response time etc.), but it isn't perfect (or maybe I'm just expecting too much). I would want more brightness during the mid-day, and while there isn't "ghosting" in the real sense of the word, moving objects do lose their crispness somewhat, though I don't know whether this is the case with all LCD screens... The resolution could be a bit higher, but I don't know if the WUXGA would already be too high... As far as the scaling is concerned, it really doesn't degrade the image quality in polygon games, but with 2D objects things do get blurry... I could go on and on, maybe some of my comments are stupid but keep in mind that this is my very first laptop and first experiences with a LCD screen as well. If you want me to tell more, give a holler by a post in this thread ![]()

Amilo M3438G has a WXGA+ resolution (1440*900 pixels) while the Amilo M4438G has WUXGA (1920*1200 pixels).
This information would have been very easy to get by simply reading the posts here BTW. But, hell, I'll just beef my post count... ![]()

Hi,
Im interested in buying a 3438. Does anyone know if there exists a hacked bios for the GPU? I read in other forums that you cant overclock the 6800 becaus fcs locked the bios. But i will buy a 3438 only if i can overclock, bacause the 6800 in my dell 9300 could be overclocked quite a lot. And yes, on German keyboards the y and z are switched and there are the additional φόδ letters. And the 3438 is deliverable and quite cheap, for example here: http://shop.hoh.de/index.htm?noteboo...ns_amilo_m.htm I like the Version for 1509€ with 2x80gb, 2+512mb and 1,73ghz BTW I cant find the 4438 in any german onlineshop, so it seems to be delayed to August or even later. |
