What spec says is one thing, what you can see in practice is second thing :]
I wonder, is there avalible 12-cell battery for this lappy? I'll had to flight by 18 hours soon (1st flight - 6 hours, 3 hour waiting in airport, and next 9 hours), and in first flight I'll travel by economic class (without lappy power-support) so I had to know how long (or how I can make time longer) I'll be able to work.

You could buy loads of batteries

In other news, I went to PC World today to check it out again. 3D Mark 05 gave it just over 3500, and that's most likely straight out of a new install, except with 3DMark 05 and 03 installed. The screen is truly amazing. Plus PC World will replace the laptop if it has a dead pixel within about a month, which is great news.

Wow...thats some nice promises. I would go for it
If you could, ask them how to get a proper bios. We allt want the standard Bios options. Do F-S think they will need the extra Support with standard Bios? They are wrong.

Also as someone said, With this Bios the graphics can not be overclocked. I can confirm that now.

I also have some bad news about the Powercinema Linux. I have been in contact with the Software developer (http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/index.jsp) and the version supplied does not support playing movies from harddrive. Its a big joke. The support at Cyberlink is a bunch of retards. They dont even understand the problem.
It seems I have to use USB or DVD when using the Remote. This is very sad. It was a reason for me when choosing the Notebook. And when I try 2 harddrives, the program doesnt even boot.

I was referring to the 3438, not 4438, but it was running at 1024x768, the standard benchmark (I couldn't change it, as it wasn't registered anyway).

As for the BIOS, I forgot to ask, but I doubt they'd know anyway. Does the current one have a language option? If so I'll also consider looking on german sites for an upgrade, otherwise I'll stick to english. Plus, we really need someone that knows german to have a look as well.

3500? Nice. On my Athlon 64 3000+, 1 GB DDR400 RAM and nVidia GeForce 5950Ultra I recived 881
BIOS is always in English. I've seen many PCs in many countries and 99,9% have got BIOS in English. If BIOS is in German, French, etc it means, then producer moded it.

I think this means the SPDIF dont work with toslink, dont know about analog 5.1. Maybe they will fix it later on. Good gesture but I'd liked the onboard SPDIF to work rather than this.
I may be wrong, but from what little I understood in a Babelfish-translated discussion thread at Chip.De, the SPDIF should work for DVD:s (which use preencoded DD 5.1 sound), but not for computer games (which use realtime DD 5.1 encoding a.k.a. "Dolby Digital Live"). Still, I was under the impression that the "Dolby Digital Live" feature was an integral part of the Azalia sound chip and if that's the case this should be only a driver related issue which a future driver update would solve. However, maybe it's an optional feature and Fujitsu-Siemens decided to throw it out? Would be interesting to find out somehow...

Is there any possibility that it could be upgraded later on? The lack of the option to open files from the internal HDD:s would definitely kill of the whole purpose of this feature to me...

Given the problems with the BIOS, SPDIF, PowerCinema and possible other issues you've encountered this far, have you changed your opinion or are you still positive about it?

Come to think of it, the issue with PowerCinema is probably due to the fact that the internal HDDs are S-ATA based and that PowerCinema doesn't have built-in S-ATA drivers, i.e. the same issue as with Windows XP install CDs...
