I have had friends that have bought refurbed units from the outlet, and have not had any major issues. If anyhting it was user error, not the compys

I bought my 9200 new. At the time there were none in the outlet. I've had a few minor problems, but Dell has been pretty good about fixing it, even though I've spent plenty of time on the phone with them.

On a side note: I'm sure the 9300 I had for a time went back thru the Outlet. It was almost perfect when I sent it back in, no difference than when I got it. The main reason it got sent back instead of the 9200 was I couldn't stand seeing my reflection first thing in the morning.

Ever Dell I've ever gotten has either been New, Refurbished or Used, except for one.

Outlet.

See my sig for specs. Should arrive this week. It has the Sony DVD+/-RW which I'm a little concerned about. I'm also a little worried that it might have a junk screen but who isn't after reading here... For the price I paid I'm willing to have to hassel with swapping out a thing or two if and only if it truely isn't up to spec.

I have purchased several new and several refurbs. Two of the refurbs i purchased in the past were exceptional values if they would have only worked. Every new one i have purchased was perfect.

I bought mine refurbished and had problems... The LCD display was defective and had to be replaced. When I got it back 3 days later (at least the service was fast) and turned it on, it had 2-3 deadpixels in the middle of the display AND there was a big scratch at the bottom of the LCD outer casing. I complained to Dell Customer support and they are going to send me out a new laptop to replace this one and I'm getting it tomorrow! WOOT...
Hopefully the new one will be free of defects !

I find the idea of buying a refurbished PC of any kind rather scary.
Granted there are some really good deals from that Dell Outlet site but the idea of getting a prejinxed pc is spooky.

if Dell is willing to back up their refurbished computers with a full warranty..then why not?

of course if the price between a refurb and a new one are similiar or comparable, the new one would be a no-brainer...however, if your looking to get a deal, refurb's might be the way to go....
