hi
i bought a sharp mm20 a few months ago and really regret it now that I see that the x1 is such a nice machine. I'm not really into gaming, but I'm missing an occasional warcraft iii match online, so i was wondering if you could tell me if that game runs in a playable manner in the 1024x768 resolution? in what resolution did you play world of warcraft? 1024x768? since u say the framerate goes down to 10 if youre in a city, what is it like if you're in a raid or fighting against monsters... would be nice to answer these questions as I'm seriously thinking about selling my mm20 in order to get an x1 thanks |

My 1.5Ghz is now at 0.956v (yes, less than the default 600Mhz voltage!)

Can the 700m screen be put into the X1 screen considering that they are both DELL and the screen size is the same?

Good question I am also thinking about. No idea, if it is possible.
This one might be of help: Dell™ Latitude™ X1 Service Manual http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...n/sm/index.htm Please let us know if you find a solution! BTW, the resolution of 700m display is 1280x800 i.e high than that of X1, I don't know if it may create a compatibility issue. Added: I guess this is a producer information on 700m displays: http://www.auo.com/auoDEV/products.p...=11&items_id=2 It would be useful to compare it with the information on X1 display (e.g. the voltages). I don't have a clue where to find this information about X1 displays. Last edited by ivar; 08-13-2005 at 07:42 PM. |

I thought both the X1 and 700m had 12.1" WXGA (1280x800) screens? Is the X1 one really that bad? Does anyone know more about speedstep on the ULV 733? I can't find documentation anywhere and I'm wondering about the steps, etc.

LOL, that one is kinda tricky. Luckily I didn't pull too hard before I realized they had hidden a screw.

Another candidate could be a display from MSI S260 or 270 (some other numbers may be used in the US for these new MSI subnotebooks), they have 1280x800. However, they are probably identical or very similar to those in i700m. It seems that Dell and Samsung have used a pretty unique 12" display (high resolution, and light!). |

The Samsung Q30 is so expensive I don't think it would be worth trying to find that screen anyways! Instead, someone should try that nushield product or something similar (that glossy sheet you can add to simulate the high contrast/vivid screen coating used by a lot of manufacturers).
As for the x1 screen, the viewing angle is disturbingly narrow (especially vertically, which is kinda annoying), but other than that it looks great! |

Concerning the screen of X1, it is probably the only small problem I have with this ultraportable: the image is a little bit grainy, the vertical angles are small (though, sufficient for comfortable work in the office), and I would like the screen to have one or two higher brightness levels.
I have undervolted my PM753 to 0,716V at 600MHz and 0.812V at 1,1MHz. |
