I was browsing in best buy and saw the MX-518... corded mice don't really interest me except it has the "Sensitivity adjustment" - the marketing stuff says you can change the mouse sensitivity on the fly without a driver. This sound cool for games like battlefield 2 where when you are in something like a tank you want lots of movement without moving the mouse much - while being a sniper you want to have very accurate slower movement.

Just basically asking does it work well or is that just marketing hype? Is it worth the $$ and packing a wired mouse around? (I currently use the bluetake bluetooth mouse). Finally does their MX900 bluetooth mouse do the same thing? (at $99 that thing is freeking expensive)

i believe bf2 has a setting where u can set different sens/keyboard layouts for the different vehicles you're in (infantry, land, sea, air), at least b42 did. having super high sens in artillary in bf42/dc reaaaaly helps, altho you get accused of hacking...as for the mouse, idk, sorry for the useless post.

The MX518 rocks. 1500 threads on this forum say so.

I bought a mx518 instead of a wireless mouse, and i LOVE it. The sensitivity thing is priceless in most video games, good even for things like graphic design, and the mouse is beautiful. Comfortable, accurate, and it's slick, much slicker than any mouse ive ever used before, hardly any resistance. The resolution adjusting thing is just cheating in battlefield, you hop in a tank, crank your resolution as high as it goes and all of a sudden you can throw the tank turret around in a blink of an eye. Hop out, crank it down, snipe someone in the head. It's nice

I use that mouse when I am on the road. I do graphic art work, so I look for gamer mice.

The sensitvity feature has come in handy for me already. In photoshop I found myself pressing the button here and there depending on what type of touchup I was doing do my photos.

Also, I don't play games all that much, but when I decided to see how well a couple of FPS worked, I found that the sensitivty adjustment really helped. Expecially when sniping or zoomed in.

And, well, it does sort of match the XPS2 in a weird way.

I wish it were wireless, but I really like my 518. I use the resolution adjustment in games all the time. The mouse itself is very nice.
