Audacity, if your audio card supports it. I bought Total Recorder for $12 a few years back and that's what I use.

I use to swear by spybot and adaware, but I took the advice of a fellow warcraft player and downloaded spyware doctor. It picked up things neither spybot or adaware found. However, if you are lazy it may not be right for you, as with the free version you have to manually delete any spyware.

GParted - http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

I've used it a few times now with no issues.

I would like to add AVG AntiVirus 7.5 Free Edition

I have to say it was the absolute best program I have ever downloaded, I kicked Norton's ass right off my hard drive!

Definately have to agree with the AVG posts. First thing I load up on a pc is AVG and update it. The other free apps I get are ccleaner, spybot, adaware se, zipgenius, firefox, free download manager, real player alternative, and quicktime alternative. Those are my must have apps whenever I do a new install or a reinstall.
