Immediate shutdowns with 600m

Twice (perhaps 3 times) in the last 48 hours, my 600m laptop screen has just snapped off... not so much the screen, but the signal for the screen (i use it with a 19 monitor plugged into it). It's completely non-responsive and only seem to be able to restart it by removing the battery to shut it down. When I restart, the date has been reset to January 1st, 1601 and must be reset.

Only thing that new on it is an extra 0.5gb chip that I bought off a friend a couple of weeks ago. Any thoughts? Anyone ran into this before?

if you cant find a remedy for this problem in this part of the forum, try posting in the centrino section of the forum. you would probably be more likely to find an answer there. but, like computergeek said, try removing the ram. there is a chance it is defective or not compatable with the 600m.
